Is it possible to run a clean campaign/election?

I have always wondered is it hard to run a clean campaign/election.  Why is it that every time someone runs for office they have to bad mouth the person they are running against. How about you let your work speak for itself.  This is so disturbing. They spend 85% of their time trying to make their opponent look bad, they really don’t tell you what they have done, or will do for the people. Right now we need people in office that care about the people. We need people in office that want change.  We don’t want people to discredit someone only for political gain. Can someone explain to me why people do this?

    • It is the culture, this culture is  dog eat dog. Also politics is war!!

      • Should it be that way, or is it just our norm?

        • Peace, Sis! No, it doesn't have to be this way. Why compete when we can work together? We all have gifts and talents. Some similar, some different. Those in the same field could work together like cells that make tissues in small groups then form organization like organs.

We need to set our own example and quit looking to the wicked society around us for guidance.

          • You are speaking pure facts. My prayer is that we can use our talents and gifts to enhance each other’s skills. We have to work together to be successful. We have to support each other though the good and the bad. We have to embrace each others cultures and learn from our ancestors many mistakes. Peace to you!!!

          • Again, this is a  brutal ,greed given culture. The motto is all is fair in love and war! When we are competing against each other we can be more civil. But do we want that today. Look at rap culture, dating culture etc. We can demand it from each other ,but people are emotionally and culturally immature.  We prefer gossip to critiques!

            • I believe a campaign can be ran clean. My mother always taught me you aren’t accountable for what other people do only what you do even if it’s a reaction. It’s important to hold people accountable but also hold ourselves accountable.
